Ulrichsweb
Ulrichsweb is an easy to search source of detailed information on more than 300,000 periodicals (also called serials) of all types: academic and scholarly journals, e-journals, peer-reviewed titles, popular magazines, newspapers, newsletters, and more. Ulrichsweb covers more than 900 subject areas. Ulrich’s records provide data points such as ISSN, publisher, language, subject, abstracting & indexing coverage, full-text database coverage, tables of contents, and reviews written by librarians. Use Ulrichsweb to gain more information on a proposed title or to gain insight into currently owned periodicals.
Coverage includes more than 60 magazines commonly used in public libraries, schools, and at home.
Videos
Video Librarian is the video review magazine for public, school, academic, and special libraries. Written by staff, librarians, teachers, and film critics, Video Librarian offers over 225 critical reviews per issue, alerting readers to upcoming new releases of special-interest, documentary, and video movie titles.
ALA-ALSC Notable Children’s Videos
The ALA’s Association for Library Services to Children provides a yearly list of notable videos for children.
The Andrew Carnegie Medal honors the most outstanding video productions for children released during the previous year.
YALSA’s Fabulous Films for Young Adults
Each year, the Fabulous Films for Young Adults committee selects a list of films around a theme that will appeal to young adults in a variety of library settings. Titles are selected to appeal to young adults with varied tastes and interests.
ALA-VRT Notable Videos for Adults
Each year a committee comprised of Video Round Table members selects the best fifteen educational, performance or how-to titles released during the previous and current calendar years. The committee makes its selections during the ALA Midwinter Meeting and the list is published in the March 15 issue of Booklist.
